Hey Andy, great website very interesting. I am SU student working on a class project and I am new to hunting. I thought it would be fun to use hunting and DEC conservation data to make a class project. It would be very helpful if you could indicate where you got the csv files for the Deer harvest, I can only find them as pdf and I do not see it listed in the leaflet-service. csv you provide.
thanks
The DEC data is only available online in the a PDF. You might try reaching out to Bureau of Wildlife directly to see if they can send you a spreadsheet. https://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/42232.html
One thing I will note about DEC harvest data is prior to 2018, the county and town was reported as a text field or hand-written, and the data contains spelling numerous mistakes and typos, so it’s not an automatic join for making maps or processing data.
Here is the spreadsheet I’ve compiled from the past few years. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mxcpRrOWF0n22ajyLxkv-Xm9GsRNrtnIVXc-ktAlma4/edit#gid=0
