Yes, floor mats!
“20% Off Floor Mats for the F-350.” says the advertising email from Ford. But I have questions.
1) I have vinyl floors, no carpeting. It’s a fucking work truck, who needs floor mats? I wanted a floor that I could sweep out and not get mud everywhere. I hate carpet, which is the big benefit of Fords – many of them don’t have carpet floors, even fancy King of Ranch trucks, because well, if your a king of a ranch, chances are you don’t want cow-shit and spoiled silage smelling carpet.
2) Regardless, I have the floor mats I moved over from Big Red. They’re still in excellent shape.
(I know, I know, it’s extreme mental illness.)
The lack of heat the stove and heater was putting out was disconcerting ♨️
Propane tank felt full enough I wasn’t concerned when I left home as I’ve used relatively little heat this autumn as it’s been mild up at camp, but I think the last time I filled it was before Labor Day Weekend and I’ve certainly used the heater, stove, and lantern a fair bit since then. Maybe not as much a some years though.
My mind often drifts towards the worst possible circumstances. ⏰ Like when I heard a creak and grone as I took that curve a bit too hard heading out to Brookfield. My truck ain’t coming apart, there isn’t a manufacturing defect, hell it’s only six months since I had it. And SuperDuties are pretty good trucks. Still…
I was looking at Tractor Supply to get more propane today if it was the tank was out, thinking that had to be reason for the problem, though in my eleven years now using propane at camp, I knew much more likely was mud clogging a line, though the fact nothing was working well, was the pressure regulator sensed a overpresurization and the bead was cutting flow or was stuck from the cold in part caused by the expanding gasses. 🏮 Eventually though it was fixed and all was good after I turned off the stove and lantern, very carefully and slowly shut off and turned on the propane. I should have enough gas for the weekend, though I do want to refill the tank before my November trip, with the hope that it last the full the trip.
I looked at going to Hamilton as that’s somewhat near Sherburne though that’s a bit of a trip north, as Lost Pond is fairly far south in Charles Baker State Forest. 🌴 I ended up realizing if I really needed propane and I’m planning to go to Sherburne, might as well just drive the next ten miles further south to Norwich and get propane at that Tractor Supply there. Plus they also have a Wally World down there for any other needed supplies. 🛒 Though I think I’m good at this point.
It was a cold morning, but that’s too be expected. ☀️ warming up nicely with the sun rising though I am still sitting by the heater with the heat on low. Had some weed with my coffee and eggs, gave it a good taste, but I am a bit couch locked and needs to wear off before I head into town. Honestly though, it’s a such a beautiful morning, no wind, snu, mild, that I’m hardly inclined to rush – and because the time change isn’t until next weekend, I have some time before darkness. I might gather firewood though before heading into town. Just so I have it ready should ti be getting closer to dark when I get back. 🪿 I want to see if are any other adventures near Sherburne that I should check out. Tomorrow though I want spend all day at the State Forest, riding, and hammock time too. 🥱

One the way out to Madison County and Lost Pond for a long weekend of remote working and camping, going to be a beautiful one even though the autumn foliage is fading fast.
I figure this will probably be the last camping trip until November unless next weekend, 😂 I decide to go out to Rensselaerville State Forest before going out to see my parents. 🧑🧒🧒 Still it’s nice to get a way. November I’m still thinking about that trip to West Virigina. I couldn’t find my damn small hiking water containers until I got to camp, I wonder if I accidentally left a light on in the kitchen on my way out. 💡 And I was freaked out about the National Grid warning that my electric bills are sky rocketing – though the reason why is I’ve been doing more baking and boiling down beans on the oven. It’s up but it will be down now that I’m away from home, especially the next few weeks between camp this weekend, next weekend going to New York City and the following week maybe Pennsylvania, maybe West Virigina or Ohio. Still weighting my options.
The plan is today to work remote from camp, trying to get there by 9 AM but probably not because I need to stop and get a few things at Price Chopper in Richfield Springs 🍏 and also need to get gas ⛽ and maybe a pack of smokes 🚬. I don’t smoke much but I do enjoy an occassional drag on a cigarette by the campfire or with a coffee on a cold morning in the woods. That and I was hearing a story about somebody on the radio 📻 who has lung cancer. It’s all that plastic I’ve burned over the years. But outside of campaign committee I don’t eat processed food. 🍭
Hoping to get that campsite at Lost Pond as both it has a lot of privacy and quiet, so nobody is going to care if I have a big old fire 🔥 and it has decent cell service for remote work. 📶 I have the new inverter in my truck and it’s working well, along with the added solar panels and the ease of just hitting a button for remote start if the battery level gets to low. 📀 I tell myself it won’t be a real busy day, but that’s a lie with a little more then a week until Election Day 🗳️ and Early Voting starting tomorrow morning.
Definately looks to be a real nice weekend. ☀️ Seasonably cold but not frigid. I had thought about driving up to Utica to help out at a campaign up that way 🐴 but I think I’ll stay down at the Horse Camp as I am pretty far south, and it’s not like Friday and Monday won’t be consumed by work and maybe a bit on Saturday too if I go down to Sherburne and need to swing by the library to do some Wi-Fi 🖥️ for mobile data intensive work, to save some of my hot spot data. But I want to spend the bulk of tomorrow in Sherburne poking around the Roger’s Center, and then Sunday riding and poking around the State Forest. 🪫 Driving down to Sherburne should help get the battery well charged up.
Well, I should get down to work and setting up camp. It was an absolutely beautiful drive out to Madison County. Hard to believe two years has come and gone since I was last out here!
