Louise Kerr Wildlife Management Area

119 acres, upland, parking lot, birdwatching, snowshoeing, hunting and trapping. This WMA is located in the Town of Coeymans. To reach the area from Coeymans Hollow, take County Route 103, north 3 miles to state land.

The “Other” Albany Pine Barriens

In recent years, through mechanical removal and burning, they have started to restore the Pitch Pine - Scrub Oak ecosystem on the top of Blodgett Hill in Coeymans. The results have been somewhat mixed but are quite stunning. It is thought as the climate warms, these higher elevations may become refuges for species no longer able to survive in the warmer Albany Pine Bush.
